Below are answers to commonly asked questions. What kind of events do we have? Many of our events are of a spiritual or psychological nature, but we also have very popular social and athletic activities. Aspects that attract Spiritual Singles members and visitors vary, but our members people are often interested in relationship issues. How many people should you expect to attend a Spiritual Singles event? Aside from parties, Spiritual Singles events tend to attract between 5 and 30 participants, with most events at about 10-15 people. Participation size varies depending on a variety of factors, including the nature of the event, the description, the time of year, etc. It is difficult to predict which event will be very popular and which will not. Our calendar is currently sent to about 1000 individuals. You can limit the number of people coming by requiring RSVP's. Please note that at least a fifth of the folks who RSVP will probably not show up, and that many folks will RSVP only a day or two ahead of the event, and even the day of. Where are Spiritual Singles events held? We hold most events in Washington, DC and its suburbs in Maryland and Virginia. Locations include members' homes, locations arranged by the event leader, church party rooms, condo community rooms, and nearby parks. If you don't already have a location, please link to our Finding Location page. What does Spiritual Singles charge for an event? Spiritual Singles does not charge members for most events and usually charges non-members only a $5 fee (to encourage membership). With this policy, we are not in a position to pay event providers. There is the option of asking for a free-will donation for the leader, but we ask that you decide whether you want to use this option in advance so that we can announce it in the calendar. What are the benefits for the event leader? Benefits of leading an event include making business, social and spiritual/communal contacts, promoting a business, and trying out new presentations. Of course, you'll also have the joy of sharing a meaningful experience. How do we socialize at events? Because Spiritual Singles is a social group as much as a spiritually-oriented group, we ask that you reserve time both before and after the event to socialize, usually over food and drink brought by the attendees. If the event is held in a Spiritual Singles member's home, you would not have to stay for either part, but are clearly welcome. Calendar Dates and Deadlines: The Calendar of Events is emailed monthly to almost 1000 individuals and is also posted on this website. The deadline
for event submission is approximately the end of the third week
of the month prior to publication. |
