Introducing Spiritual Singles

Spiritual Singles, which was started in November 1995, is a non-profit organization created to give single people who value spirituality the opportunity to meet and enjoy the company of other spiritually-minded singles through a social network/fellowship. We use the word "spiritual" very broadly, and welcome singles of all spiritual beliefs, faiths, religions, and denominations. We believe that the wider the variety of beliefs, the greater chance each of us has of meeting others of like-mind.

Calendar of Events

We schedule a variety of spiritual, community, cultural, sports, and other social activities on an ongoing basis. Most of our events are relatively small, intimate gatherings of 5 to 25 people. We also hold a party about every two months, with participation generally ranging from 50 to 120 people. Most events are in Maryland and Virginia, and sometimes in DC. Some events are Metro accessible. Typical age range of participants is 30 to 65.

We publish a calendar of events that is distributed automatically to all members of Spiritual Singles. Calendars are sent out via email every month. Current and past calendars, as well as classified ads and interim messages can be also be viewed from a link on our home page.

[Note: Signing up on our e-mail list does not make you a member of Spiritual Singles. To become a member, you must send in the membership form and pay $35 per year. See Membership below for benefits of becoming a member.]

Activity Fee Schedule

Members: Unless otherwise noted, regular events are free to Spiritual Singles members; nominal member fees are charged at parties and special events and are indicated in the current calendar.

Non-members: Fees are noted in the current calendar but are usually $5 for regular events and $10 for parties. If a non-member joins at an event, they will immediately be eligible to attend at the member rate. There is no charge for anyone to attend organizational meetings and most community service activities.

Guests and non-members are welcome to get a feel for the organization before becoming a member by attending functions on a pay-as-you-go basis per the above fee schedule.

Leading Events/Hosting Events/Volunteering

Activities are initiated by anyone who has an idea and the willingness to lead an event. Leading events can be a lot of fun, since you attract other people who enjoy the activities that you enjoy.

Spiritual Singles is always looking for hosts for events led by others and for parties. By hosting, you get the opportunity to meet interesting people and experience fun and engaging activities without ever leaving your home. Spiritual Singles hosting is totally voluntary in that no host on our list is required to accept any event. Hosting can be done if you can hold 15 people in one space. Membership

Spiritual Singles is a non-profit organization. Membership dues cover all operational and advertising expenses. These expenses include party-room rentals, internet fees, contractors for publishing the calendar maintaining the membership database, and advertising fees.

The benefits of membership include a) free entry into most events, b) $5 savings over non-members at special events, c) a sense of community, d) helping to make sure that Spiritual Singles is able to sustain itself and to keep providing events through which you can meet other spiritually-minded people. Our main source of income is our dues.

Our annual membership fee is $35.00. Upon receipt of your check, we will send you an e-mail showing your name, membership date and expiration date.
